Optoma Launches New Ultra-Portable LED Projector

Optoma has unveiled its latest addition to the portable projector range, which is powered by ground-breaking LED technology. The ML1500 is small and light enough to serve as a regular travelling companion, weighing just 1.4kg, combined with 1500 LED brightness, HDMI connectivity, HD Ready resolution, touch pad interface and powerful 6 Watt stereo speakers.

The ML1500’s casing is ultra slim for easy transport in a laptop case or carry bag provided. On applying power, it is up to full brightness in a few seconds and stops instantly with no cool down required, so it is convenient for presenters on the go.  Presentations from a phone or tablet using the free iOS/ Android App “Wi-Fi-Doc”, is simple. “Wi-Fi-Doc” allows the presenter to wirelessly share and present documents and photos stored on a mobile device. Alternatively, content can be displayed wirelessly from a PC, Mac or mobile device using Optoma’s mini Wi-Fi dongle (sold separately), which connects to the USB port.

The ML1500 incorporates a media player, native office viewer and built-in speakers. Projection without a laptop is straightforward using the SD card slot or USB connection. In addition to the standard VGA, S-Video, and Composite connections, the ML1500 also has an HDMI port for connectivity to a laptop, PC, games console or Blu-ray™ player. High quality audio is provided using SRS WOW HD™ stereo enhancement technology, improving dynamic audio performance and bass response to create a wider sound field from the on-board 6 Watt speakers.

In many situations the perceived brightness of LED projectors can be up to twice the brightness of an equivalent lamp-based projector. LED brightness* specifications allow for a better comparison against lamp-based projectors, which do not take advantage of the enhanced brightness perception the Helmholtz-Kohlrausch (HK) effect creates.

Harnessing the latest LED technology, the ML1500 is better for the environment and will ultimately cost less to the consumer. Optoma’s Head of Product Management, Justin Halls explained: “This projector will not have the inconvenience and cost of frequent lamp changes. It also doesn’t need lengthy warm-up and cool down cycles due to its almost instant start up and shut down times.

Digital signage applications are ideal for the ML1500 as the projector can be mounted in virtually any orientation and the inherently long life of LED technology means minimal maintenance will be required.  The auto keystone feature also makes set-up very straightforward.
