Optoma Launches 800 Lumen Ultra-Portable LED Projector

London, July 2013 - Optoma has unveiled the ultimate in portable projectors, which is capable of 800 ANSI lumens. The LED powered ML800 is small and light enough to serve as a regular travelling companion, weighing just 1.4kg, combined with HDMI connectivity, WXGA resolution, touch pad interface and powerful 6 Watt stereo speakers.

The ML800’s casing is ultra slim for easy transport in a laptop case or carry bag provided. On applying power, it is up to full brightness in a few seconds and stops instantly with no cool down required, so it is convenient for presenters on the go. Presentations from a phone or tablet using the free iOS/ Android App “Wi-Fi-Doc”, is simple. “Wi-Fi-Doc” allows the presenter to wirelessly share and present documents and photos stored on a mobile device. Alternatively, content can be displayed wirelessly from a PC, Mac or mobile device using the optional mini Wi-Fi dongle, which connects to the USB port.

The ML800 incorporates a media player, native office viewer and built-in speakers. Projection without a laptop is straightforward using the SD card slot or USB connection. In addition to the standard VGA, S-Video, and Composite connections, the ML800 also has an HDMI port for connectivity to a laptop, PC, games console or Blu-ray™ player. High quality audio is provided using SRS WOW HD™ stereo enhancement technology, improving dynamic audio performance and bass response to create a wider sound field from the on-board 6 Watt speakers.

The LED light source provides a range of advantages including a lifespan of up to 20,000 hours, equivalent to 20 years, based on 4 hours of use per day, five days a week, with no need for lamp replacement. The environmental impact is also reduced as LED projectors are completely free of Mercury.

Digital signage applications are ideal for the ML800 as the projector can be mounted in virtually any orientation and the inherently long life of LED technology means minimal maintenance will be required. The auto keystone feature also makes set-up very straightforward.

Head of Product Management Justin Halls commented: “The Optoma ML800 is the perfect partner for anyone who needs a convenient multi-purpose projector for use in the office, classroom or on the move. In many situations the perceived brightness of an LED projector can be up to twice the brightness of an equivalent lamp-based projector. Combined with the extraordinary life of LED’s, the ML800 will be clear and bright for many years to come.”

The Optoma ML800 LED portable projector is available now from selected retailers.
